Spine Surgery prevalently Oncologic and Degenerative

The complex structure of Spine Surgery prevalently Oncologic and Degenerative is dedicated to diagnosis and treatment of complex pathologies in the spine, of oncologic, degenerative or even post-traumatic origin.

The physicians were formed at the Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute under the guidance of Prof. Mario Campanacci and Prof. Romolo Savini, and have an intense surgical experience performed at the Ospedale Maggiore in Bologna. Throughout the years there have been continuous staff exchanges with the major International centers in oncology and spine surgery (Mayo Clinic, Rochester; MD Anderson, Houston; Vancouver Spine Center; John Hopkins, Baltimore).

The experience matured in the years has brought about the elaboration of a system for evaluation of diagnostic techniques and therapeutic planning (WBB staging system of primary tumors; algorithm for treatment of spinal metastases), and the development of surgical techniques and original instrumentation.
