The new therapeutic possibility with Magnetic Resonance-guided Focused Ultrasound: Professor Catalano at the Rizzoli Institute on March 25th

Prof. Carlo Catalano, Director of Radiology A, Department of Radiologic, Oncologic and Anatomy-Pathological Science of the Umberto I Polyclinic in Rome, will be at the Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute of Bologna (Auditorium “Aula Magna”, Research Center, via di Barbiano 1/10) on Tuesday, March 25th at 12 noon, for a scientific lecture entitled “MR-guided Focused Ultrasound: a new therapeutic possibility for pathologies”.

Prof. Carlo Catalano, Umberto I Polyclinic of RomeProf. Catalano, teacher of Diagnostic Imaging in several Specialization Schools of the University La Sapienza in Rome, has focused his activity on clinical research, with a special interest for the development of new non-invasive diagnostic imaging techniques for the cardio-vascular system and in the oncologic field. The Focused Ultrasound Therapy Unit of the Umberto I Polyclinic directed by prof. Catalano applies a technological innovation combining the properties of Focused Ultrasounds with the guidance of Magnetic Resonance.

At the Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute of Bologna, the technique is utilized for the treatment of muscular-skeletal system diseases, and especially for bone metastases (information is fully available on the Rizzoli’s thematic site).

The appointment belongs to a series of meetings with the protagonists of international biomedical research, promoted by the scientific director of the Rizzoli Institute, Francesco Antonio Manzoli.
