Professor Francesco Antonio Manzoli, winner of the competitive exam for the Scientific Direction of the Rizzoli Orthopedic Institute, published by the Minister of Health, prof. Renato Balduzzi, has been confirmed by the Ministry, together with the President of the Emilia-Romagna Regional Council, Vasco Errani, for a quinquennial position as IOR Scientific Director.

The Commission’s motivations as follows:

“The Commission believes that the scientific direction of an IRCSS (Istituto di ricovero e cura a carattere Scientifico – Scientific Recovery and Cure Institute) must be entrusted to a candidate who not only possesses high scientific competences, but also has the competence to translate basic into clinical research, coordinating the activity of numerous interdisciplinary groups.
In the light of such consideration, the Commissaries unanimously agree that professor Manzoli is fully suitable for the Scientific Direction of the Rizzoli IRCSS, given that Dr. Manzoli presents, as required by the article n. 1 of the competition, an extremely high-profile scientific production, expressed by his career, in addition to excellent experience and managerial abilities. Furthermore, professor Manzoli possesses excellent organizational capabilities within research and team work, has acquired professional experience abroad and has demonstrated excellent relational abilities with national and international teams. Therefore, professor Manzoni proves to posses excellent values according to all the parameters specified in the attachment to the aforementioned competition”.
