Scientific activities
  • Member of the international scientific society Personalized Arthroplasty Society, where he holds appointments within the Finance and Audit Committees. Involved in the design and conduct of national and international clinical studies, including multicentre studies, funded through competitive grants or promoted as investigator-initiated non-profit studies.
  • Within these activities, he has served as Principal Investigator, local lead or research activity coordinator. His main research areas include primary and revision hip and knee arthroplasty, painful or failed joint replacements, preoperative planning, registry studies and the application of new technologies in orthopaedics. 
  • He has presented more than 80 scientific contributions, including oral communications and posters, at major national and international congresses in orthopaedics, arthroplasty, arthroscopy, sports traumatology and cartilage regeneration. 
  • He has received scientific awards at national and international congresses, including “Best Paper” at SIGASCOT 2014, award at the ESSKA Consensus Meeting 2015, “Best Poster” at SIDA 2023 and “Best Poster” at SIDA 2025. 
  • He is the author of more than 100 peer-reviewed scientific publications in international journals, mostly indexed in PubMed/MEDLINE, and more than 10 book chapters. His publications mainly focus on primary and revision hip and knee arthroplasty, biomaterials, tribology, implant positioning, cartilage repair and regenerative techniques, registry studies, implant surveillance, healthcare organization and the environmental sustainability of surgery.

  • He serves as reviewer for international orthopaedic and surgical journals, including The Journal of Arthroplasty, The Bone & Joint Journal, Archives of Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery, Hip International, Bone & Joint Research and EFORT Open Reviews. 
  • He is a member of the Editorial Board of international scientific journals and acts as a scientific reviewer for international research projects.
Clinical and/or Scientific interests
  • Primary hip and knee arthroplasty, with the use of minimally invasive techniques and strategies for personalized prosthetic reconstruction. Treatment of primary and secondary osteoarthritis, including hip dysplasia, congenital disorders and post-traumatic conditions.
  • Revision hip and knee arthroplasty for painful, loosened or failed joint replacements. 
  • Repair and regenerative surgery of the major joints of the lower limb, including biological and reconstructive treatments.
  • Scientific activity focused on primary and revision arthroplasty, tribology, biomaterials, implant positioning, periprosthetic joint infections, arthroplasty registry studies, post-market evaluation of medical devices, artificial intelligence applied to orthopaedics, cartilage regeneration, and the organizational, economic and environmental sustainability of surgical pathways.
