Operative Unit

General objective of the project

The JoCare project aims to develop a therapy and create a new medical device for use in the orthopedic field. The treatment can be repeated over time and managed directly by the user. It foresees a pre-clinical research phase to characterize the effect of JoCare therapy on the key biological processes of cartilage. The technological activity involves developing a new medical device capable of delivering the JoCare parameters identified in the pre-clinical research phase. The device will connect in Bluetooth mode with the user's smartphone through a dedicated application developed by the project partner Sinesy. The application will provide information on the use of JoCare therapy for the treatment of joint symptoms. These forms are developed in collaboration between the orthopedic clinicians at the University of Ferrara, the IRCCS Galeazzi Sant'Ambrogio Hospital, and the IRCCS Istituto Ortopedico Rizzoli.

The objective of IOR within the project

IOR has as its objective the preclinical evaluation of the efficacy of the new medical device in the biological processes that regulate cartilage homeostasis, as well as the preparation of investigation protocols and clinical experiences with the new device for the knee.
