Milena Fini elected representative of the public IRCCS at the Ministry of Health

The scientific director of the Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute has been elected representative of the IRCCS on the Technical Health Committee, Section C for Health Research, of the Ministry of Health

Milena Fini, scientific director of the Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute in Bologna, is elected representative of the IRCCS - Scientific Institutes of Hospitalization and Treatment - under public law on the Technical Health Committee, Section C for Health Research, of the Ministry of Health.

I thank the Ministry of Health and all my colleagues from other institutions who have conferred their trust in me for this important activity. The goal is to ensure the highest quality translational and clinical-care research – explains Director Milena Fini - with the guidance of the Department of Prevention, Research and Health Emergencies, the challenge of our Institutes is to offer safe and effective therapies and prevention and treatment pathways to citizens and patients, bringing innovation through the exchange of knowledge, skills, and resources”.

Dr. Milena Fini has been the scientific director of the Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute in Bologna since July 1°, 2022, and national coordinator of the RAMS Network, the Musculoskeletal System Network of the IRCCS.

She conducts international research on osteoporosis and osteoarthritis, vertebral and prosthetic surgery, fractures, and musculoskeletal tissue injuries, working on traumatic, degenerative, infectious, and oncological diseases, and as part of projects and clinical studies conducted in collaboration with Rizzoli's clinical care facilities.

Some projects of the national IRCCS networks, thanks to the great work of all the Institute's professionals, concern translational research on regenerative and restorative medicine of the musculoskeletal system, paediatric orthopaedic pathologies, in silico medicine to create pathology models and for personalized surgery, and studies on aging and frailty.
